Big event for football and golf fans

You have never  thought of  integrating golf into football, right? But now, I'll tell you nothing is impossible! A new golf  tournament "Golf Champions of Football' has been launched for football fans who are also passionate about golf. This innovative event, to be staged at the Vila Sol Vilamoura Spa and Golf Resort in the Algarve in Portugal in May and June 2010 and to be hosted by DK Events LDA, will give golfing football fans in the UK the chance to win this brand new competition in their favorite club colors.

"The Golf Champions of Football," says Darryl Kenyon of DK Events, "is a wonderful way of bringing together people with the dual passions of two great sports, golf and football; people who are ardent fans of their football team of choice and who also enjoy playing golf at a competitive, yet friendly level with fellow footie fans. As well,  it is also a great opportunity for football supporters to show off their skills on the golf course, wear their football teams' colors with pride and pit themselves against rival clubs in a relaxed, yet challenging competition. "

The Vila Sol Golf Course should prove a demanding test for all the participants. It was voted one of the Top 100 Courses in Europe by Golf World Magazine, has twice hosted the Portuguese Open and is home to the late Sir Bobby Robson's Annual Charity Event.
Already four big names from the world of football have signed up for the Golf Champions of Football 2010, namely Cardiff City Manager, Dave Jones; former Aston Villa player Neil Cox; Darren Purse, who is currently with Sheffield Wednesday, and Sky TV football pundit, Don Goodman.

Keen golfer Cox, who now lives in the Algarve, said: "I am looking forward to being part of this event and mixing the two big loves in my life. "It's always a memorable occasion when football supporters get together and do 'friendly' battle ... bring it on!" added Don Goodman.

To play in the Golf Champions of Football, golfers will have to pay £650 per person, £1,250 per two-ball and £2,400 per four-ball, but this will pay for all their golf, for three nights of five-star accommodation, for Faro airport transfers and for a Gala Evening.

Each team of four will be entered to play in one of three group stages. Winning teams from each stage are awarded prizes with the team with the overall points lead to be crowned the inaugural "Golf Champions of Football".
